Our Services

Our doctors and nurses provide the following services for you at the surgery.

Urgent – same day appointments

When you call us, our reception team will endeavour to make an appointment for you to be seen by a doctor. If they are unable to offer you an appointment for an urgent condition our duty doctor  will telephone you to assess your symptoms and either consult with you over the phone or invite you into the surgery for a face-to-face appointment. Where your condition does not require a face-to-face appointment, our clinician will offer you advice over the phone, and will, if necessary, arrange a prescription. Where a face-to-face appointment is necessary, our clinician will arrange to book you in on a same-day basis whenever possible or on a different day if agreed between you.

Routine appointments

There are several ways to book an appointment

  1. Call the surgery choose option 1 and use our automated 24 hour appointment booking system.
  2. Use Patient Access the online service that allows you to book, confirm, amend appointments as well as have access to your medical records including results, order prescriptions (details can be found on the left hand side of this page under Patient Access).
  3. Call the surgery and speak to a receptonist.
  4. Book an appointment at our Reception.
  • Routine (non urgent) appointments are available every morning bookable on the same day only, by telephone, booking through the automated phone system or through the on-line booking system (Patient Access) and in person at Reception.
  • This is not a walk-in service
  • if you come to reception to make a same day appointment prior to 8am you will be asked to queue unitl 8am when the apointments are released.
  • Once ‘on the day’ appointments have been filled any clinically urgent patients are triaged by the Duty Doctor .
  • Pre bookable morning appointments are available Monday to Friday between 7 am—8.20 am and every afternoon.
  • This will not apply to ante-natal appointments—which will continue to be made in advance.

Seeing the right clinician:

Our clinical team consists of a wide range of highly skilled doctors and nurses. Please be aware that our doctors are on hand to deal mainly with the more complex and serious problems. The majority of problems are more quickly and conveniently dealt with by using the skills of the whole clinical team. If every patient visiting the surgery were to request doctor attention over and above care from any other member of the clinical team, many patients with the greatest need to see a doctor would be kept waiting, so please ask if an appointment with a practice nurse might be appropriate.

Our practice nurses deal with certain specialist areas and long-term conditions, as well as care for your routine treatment and check-up needs. Doctors are always on hand for support and advice where needed.

Routine appointments:

We have a computer based appointments system with appointments available up to 8 weeks in advance.

* Most appointments are for 10 minutes with a doctor or 15 minutes with a nurse

* Routine appointments are made either by telephone using our automated system or speaking to a receptionist, visiting Reception or on-line through Patient Access.

We recommend that you try to see the same doctor / nurse with any given illness.

Please remember that each appointment is timed for one person and ideally one problem only- the doctors don't enjoy running late any more than you enjoy being kept waiting.

If you are unable to keep an appointment, please cancel it as soon as possible, so that it can be given to someone else: even one hours notice means that someone with an acute problem can be seen.
